Scott Fujita and family reenact Steve Gleason’s famous blocked punt as birthday tribute

Scott Fujita posted on YouTube a reenactment with his family of Steve Gleason’s famous blocked punt as a birthday tribute to his former New Orleans Saints teammate.

Gleason celebrated his 37th birthday Wednesday.

Fujita’s tribute included the Twitter hashtag of #Gleason37, which fans used to send birthday wishes.

Gleason, who also received a framed No. 37 jersey from Saints coaches and staffers for his birthday, has inspired many since his ALS diagnosis in 2011.

Gleason played for the Saints from 2000 to 2006. He is is best known for the blocked punt against the Atlanta Falcons in the Saints’ first game in the Superdome following Hurricane Katrina.

Scott Fujita was born in Ventura, California on April 28, 1979. He was a three-sport standout at Rio Mesa High School in Oxnard, CA before heading to the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated with Honors in Political Science and earned a Masters degree in Education.

Fujita has played in the NFL for the Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints and Cleveland Browns. Read more
